Once In A Lifetime

It was the Hari Anugerah Cemerlang SM Sains Tuanku Syed Putra 2010, held on 5th July 2011 to acknowledge students that showed good academic's achievement for the year of 2010. As for me, this will be my last to be on the school's stage, as a student of SMSTSP. For five years, I had been living in SMSTSP and  there are thousands of memories which I will hold on to. Happy, sad, love, frustration, angry, moody, etc. All these, blended together to become a mixture that made up some parts of my life. I hereby, force myself to say goodbye to SMSTSP as a student. I will come back and contribute to the school as an ex-student who loves the  his previous school.

If you can't be a pine on the top of the hill
Be a scrub in the valley - but be
The best little scrub by the side of the rill;
Be a bush if you can't be a tree

If you can't be a bush be a bit of the grass,
And some highway some happier make;
If you can't be a muskie then just be a bass -
But be the liveliest bass in the lake!

We can't all be captains, we've got to be crew,
There's something for all of us here.
There's big work to do and there's lesser to do,
And the task we must do is the near.

If you can't be a highway then just be a trail,
If you can't be the sun be a star;
It isn't by size that you win or you fail -
Be the best of whatever you are!

Kolej Tuanku Ja'afar was founded in 1991 by YAM Tunku Naquiyuddin, Tunku Laxamana Negeri Sembilan,
YAM Tunku Tan Sri Imran and YAM Tunku Dara Tunku Tan Sri Naquiah.
This is going to be my living place for the next two years, starting this August until June 2013.
WHAT? : It's an international British-style boarding school.
WHERE? : located in the a small town called Mantin, Negeri Sembilan.
WHAT? : I will enroll into its Sixth Form course, GCE A-Level ( I will be a school student again )
WHICH? : The college has eight boarding houses, and I am an Imran House-member-soon-to-be.
So, this is going to be my stepping stone towards achieving one of my goals :
# pursue my degree study at OxBridge or LSE, in the United Kingdom.

The Long Awaited Refurbishment

Hello. Pheewww~
What a relieved.
After for so long, I planned to refurbish my humble blog and yesterday and today were the days that my plan, at last, worked out.
I browsed thru a few blog template's website but lastly, it was a template from this blogger that was chosen to give a new look to my blog.
BUT, there's a problem with my new-looking blog, somehow it can't display the followers and others who wish to follow my blog can't do so. OMG!!!
Now, what to do? I've changed the blog template thrice in two days, but the prob is still there. :'(
I'll let it be for a while, hopefully it'll mend itself. haha.

Education is not about scoring As

Being "A" cut above the rest is something that has been resonating in our society for years now. Unfortunately, the "A" does not spell quality.

It is sad to see students who score seven to 10As not being able to make the cut when they go to college or when it comes to tackling real-life problems

They lack the proficiency and skills in language, communication, time management and even leadership.
Many of these students, the one who writes this as well, shiver when asked to deliver a short presentation, get stressed in managing their assignments, don't know the simple rules of algebra and, most importantly, can't think critically to make informed decisions.

In our race to get as many As as possible, most of us (students) become mechanical.
Getting an A should mean that one is able to put his or her knowledge to practice in everyday life. What good is an A if one does not have the competence to tackle a job interview?

Having examinations that are on par with those in the foreign countries does not mean we are turning ourselves becoming top-notch students.

The education system should reflect real-life situations so that we, students, are able to see the relevance of learning in our everyday lives. This, in turn, helps cultivate an attitude for lifelong learning.
Many students lose focus and do not understand the true meaning of education. We are blinded in our struggle towards becoming an A student.

The question we should ask ourselves is not whether it is too easy to get an A these days but what that A means.
