Complaint

I always complaint,
My house is too small,
Little did I realise that,
There are people who don't even have any.

I always complaint,
My food is tasteless,
Little did I realise that,
There are people who's don't know when is their next meal.

I always complaint,
My class schedule is too tight,
Little did I realise that,
There are people who don't have a school to go.

I always complaint,
My wifi isn't working,
Little did I realise that,
There are people who never knew internet existed.

I always complaint,
My allowance isn't enough,
Little did I realise that,
There are people who lives under $1 a day.

I always complaint,
My fridge is too small,
Little did I realise that,
There are people who have never seen a fridge before.

I always complaint,
I complaint about this and that,
Little did I take time,
To be grateful,
To be thankful,
To the Most Merciful.

" And [remember] when your Lord proclaimed, 'If you are grateful, I will surely increase you [in favor]; but if you deny, indeed, My punishment is severe.' "
14 : 7 (Chapter 14 : Verse 7)

Be grateful with what you have in your life. Some people wish to have what you have.
If you felt that you don't have enough, always look at those who have less.
You shall be enlightened .

"And if you should count the favors of Allah , you could not enumerate them. Indeed, Allah is Forgiving and Merciful. "
16 : 18 (Chapter 16 : Verse 18)

Stop complaining. Period. :)

Purpose

Life. Purpose.

Two big words.
At one point in one's life, one will inevitably come across these two words in the form of "What's the PURPOSE of LIFE?"

People do numerous things to look for life's purpose.
It's the big question that has been boggling billion minds.
Is the answer to this question is nowhere to be found?
Have you searched high and low for it?

Do the pictures below reflect our purpose of existence?

Wealth

Luxury cars

Mansions

Do we live just to earn as much so that we can buy things we want?
I'm not saying it's wrong to do so. Hey, I wanna have those stuffs too if I could. :D
But at the end of the day, do these things bring content to our life?
Indeed, don't look no further because our Creator created us with reasons.
He put us on Earth with a book as our living manual. Just like machines we created, they come with user's manual, so do us! And what is that? Al-Quran.

"And when your Lord said to the angels, I am going to place in the Earth a caliph...

they said : What! Will You place therein those who will make mischief therein and shed blood, while we glorify You with praises and thanks and sanctify You.

He (Allah) said : I know that which you do not know"
2 :30 (chapter 2 : verse 30)

Boom!!! Does that verse ring any bells?

"And I (Allah) created not the jinns and humans except they should worship Me (Alone)"
51 : 56 (chapter 51 : verse 56)

Zaaaassssss!!!! Knock3!! Got the answer now?
Yes. The answer has been there for more than 14 centuries!

Purpose of life :
1. Caliph : govern the world according to His guidelines
2. 'Abid : we are His slaves, and we should worship Him alone

This post seems to contradict the previous one at a first glance.
But hey, no it isn't. Islam doesn't say that you can't accumulate wealth and become rich. In fact in the history of Islam, some of the companions of our prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him) were businessmen and millionaires.
Some of them were among the richest people of their time.
It is perfectly fine to be work hard and accumulate wealth but do make sure we are aware of our purpose and fulfil it. YOLO? haha. We don't live only once.
We've got the eternal HereAfter yeah boys and girls.
:)

Discover. Learn. Think.

Choose

السلام عليكم

Hi.
It has been a busy week. (Pheewww)

So, in this post I would like to highlight a topic that many people have been talking about for years and yet, not many have taken that 'big step forward' and act upon this issue.

Let me pose a question to you, do you want to work for money or money works for you?

Robert T. Kiyosaki in his book 'Rich Dad Poor Dad' has shown us a very simple yet powerful diagram of how we generally live in this world.

Google Images

The left-hand side column is the common way of how people live their life nowadays.
95% of the world's population is either an employee or self employed.
Whereas the other remaining 5% either own businesses or invest their money or they might be doing both(which is usually the case). These people sit on the right-hand side column.
Unfortunately, those who are the Es and the Ss own only 5% of the world's wealth and yes, you're totally right, the rest of the wealth is owned by the Bs and the Is.
Which sides do you want to be? The 'poor' or the 'rich'?

Employee
People in this quadrant exchange time for money.
They work for an hour, they get paid a certain amount.
If they want a pay rise, then they have to work another hour so on and so forth.
However, the underlying truth is that not only they give up their time for money, they also take in stress, anger, disappointment and the list goes on.
They have deadlines, endless meetings and being yelled at by their bosses is part of the life.
Some of them even have to give up family time in order to please their bosses and make money for the company.
It's just sad but that's how life is in this quadrant.
They are trapped in the so-called 'rat race'.
The never ending race that can drive people to madness.

Wealth : little. Have to work forever, yet doesn't guarantee any wealth accumulation
Time : 9-5 clock-in, clock-out. Sometimes maybe until late night. Might have a day over the weekend or two(if they were lucky)
Financial freedom?: hurm, go ask your boss please. :P

Self Employed
Those who are self employed have achieved some sort of liberation.
They don't have anyone to report to, they can work whenever they want.
The more they work, the more money they get. This is not necessarily true for the Es because some of them might work hard, but they might not get along very well with their bosses and hence, bye-bye, no pay rise for you.
For self employed people, that's not the case but there's a catch. Since they run their own businesses, so they have to literally do everything.
They are the CEO, they are the accountant, they are the HR people (he mights need to employ someone to do some work for him), they are the PR officer and they are the cleaner. Strictly saying, they are everything in the company. So they end up having 5-6 jobs in one job. It's even more tiring isn't it?

Wealth : better than employees(hopefully), vice versa may also be true. More work means more wealth
Time : Might have plenty of free time or might also end up working 24/7
Financial freedom?: uncertain

Business Owner
Howdy boy? *giggles
Business owners own systems and people work for them.
Most of the time, the business runs by itself and generates huge amount of cash for the owners. Pretty interesting huh? :D
But to start, it requires one to put in a big chunk of cash to invest in setting up the business. For example, a shop lot of Costa cafe costs roughly £75000.
While a McDonald's outlet requires initial upfront of £200000. You have to break the bank bro!
So you tell me, where can one gets this amount of money if one didn't inherit them or otherwise one may have to take a loan from the bank, which adds to the risk involve.
p/s : I know of a business that splits its profits almost 50-50. Do you?

Wealth : self-generating and accumulate quickly as time moves on
Time : it's harsh for the first few years, after that plenty of time to go travel around the world
Financial freedom?: Highly likely

Investors
What would be the best alternative than having money to work very hard for you?
Investors plough cash into businesses, assets, bonds etc. and make money works very hard for them.
They can go to sleep, travel, stay at home and enjoy sip of coffee and yet their wealth hardly stops growing (unless they have a lousy investment portfolio).
This group of people enjoy the benefit of compounded return. As time goes by, their assets keep growing. They might need  to attend meeting here and there occasionally, check upon their investment portfolio once in a while and the rest of the time just enjoy life and do what they want to do, not what they have to do. However, one stills need to break the bank initially to get started on this.
The rate of their success really depends on the amount of risk that they are able to tolerate. The higher the better(not necessarily true).

Wealth : money works for them, pile up over time
Time : all the time in this world
Financial freedom?: Highly likely, almost certain

Wake up people!!
We need to position ourselves in the B and I column.
Unless you love to be in the rat race forever, take action now.
Start up a business. Invest!
I have started mine. It is slow but surely inshaAllah(God's willing), it will bear fruits later.
Fortunately Alhamdulillah(all praise is to Almighty God) partnering a business that splits its profit almost 50-50 with me is a blessing.
I've taken my first big step from the 'poor' column to the 'rich' column.
Have you?

Biar Puasa Sampai Mati

السلام عليكم

Ya ukhti
Allah hantar dikau sebagai ujian buatku
Kita bagai langit dan bumi
Dikau sudah jauh dalam perjalanan menuju ke langit
Aku di sini masih bergelumang dengan lumpur dosa duniawi

Saban hari berjuang
Dek melawan tentera nafsu yang tidak sunyi
Menerpa pintu hati membawa diri
Pergi jauh dari jalan tarbawi

Dada masih kosong
Ilmu masih lopong
Bagaimana hendak membimbing
Sedangkan diriku pun tidak terbimbing

Bangunlah wahai diri
Usah biarkan waktu mudamu
Ditelan arus modenisasi
Terpesong daripada yang hakiki

Mantapkan aqidahmu
Teguhkan prinsipmu
Kuatkan mujahadahmu
Menuju kepada Yang Satu

Biar dakwah sampai lebam
Jangan akhirat kelak tersembam

Biar masa tiada yang muda
Dari Dia mengharap redha

BIAR PUASA SAMPAI MATI,
DARI KU TURUT KATA HATI.

Kita sudah tiada masa

What's Your Interest???

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم
السلام عليكم

Hello everyone. Peace be upon you all.
Let's talk about interest. Not that interest in finance but interest as in things that you like.
Things that is dear to your heart.

As for me, I'm into investment and a bit of business.
So far, I have had only a year of experience in investment, mainly in the stock market.
The first question is, how did I first start this not-so-youth kind of thing?

It all boil down to a sunny day a few years ago when I was accompanying my cousin who was looking for a house to buy.
She just started working with a startup pay that was considerably high for a fresh graduate like her.
We went to look for houses in Denai Alam, Selangor.
To cut a long story short, I was shocked to the max when she couldn't afford any of the houses.
I thoughts those houses were pretty reasonable and her salary was ok and she should be able to afford it.
But it didn't turn out that way.

This event came knocking at my heart and stimulated my brain to think, "if during that time, fresh grads couldn't already afford to buy a house even if they were to take loan(because they are not eligible for loans, I thought what will the situation be like when I step out of university in 2016…."
I monologued, "I can't wait until I finish studying to generate wealth, or else it will take me forever to afford my own house and etc….I have to do something NOW!!" So, GAME ON!!

Tick tock! Tick tock! Make the most out of your time

That's how I started to delve into investment.
I promised to myself, I want to exit, if not avoid, the 'rat race' sooner rather than later in my life.
My aspiration? Mr. Abdul Rahman ibn 'Auf, one of the richest companions of our beloved prohet Muhammad p.b.u.h.
I shall not write too long, simple and precise(hopefully), that's my way.
Do make du'a for me so that Allah ease my way towards becoming a modern Abdul Rahman 'Auf.
Amin.

So what's your interest?

Dusty. A simple word to describe this blog.
Well you guys know, we've got on and off time for everything in this world.
Even our iman has its ups and downs.

Well, I'm back! Not sure whether there are still people following this humble blog but inshaAllah I'll continue to write again from time to time.
It's a good platform for me to train myself towards being someone who is istiqamah in doing good things. But my main objective of having this bloggie is to share my thoughts on anything I think worth of sharing.
Do make du'a for me. May Allah bless us and grant us His rahmat.
So, see you guys in the next post yeah! ;)

Awake | Reflect | Change
Ok that picture has got nothing to do with the post.
Randomly chose it to be uploaded. Or else this post would be very dull and dead.

Kelantan Trip 2012

Assalamu'alaikum w.b.t.
Hello. A new post about something that's past quite sometime ago. But still, the pictures are worth sharing!!!

I went to Kelantan, one of the states located on the East Coast of peninsular Malaysia. Purpose? A well planned vacation with my college mates : Aiman, Haziq, Azrul, Imad, Zul, Wafiy and Danial. Since some of them are leaving for universities this coming September, so this trip is kinda get together thingy before they leave. :')

I went there on 17th July and came back home on 19th July. Although it was short, but the memories will stay put in my mind. To summarize, from my observation Kelantan needs a lot more development. Yes, A LOT. The community is quite well established, but if the developments were vast and holistic, I am certain that it'll be one of the most advanced state in Malaysia. As of now, Kelantan is lagging behind a bit far compared to other states apart from the tiny Perlis. Ok, now why do I sound like a politician? Sigh.

Back to tourism, the best part of the vacation was F-O-O-D!!! Kelantan's cuisine was fantastic. Every munch led to mouth-gasm. Frankly, I put on weight as a result of 3-day stay in Kelantan. Two kilograms in three days. Horrible! Ridikulus! (Ahmad, pinjam word)

So, as usual I prefer the pictures do the talking to writing. By the way, before I forget, I would like to express my gratitude to the host for this vacation, Danial Fitri and Tuan Wafiyullah for driving us around and providing us a place to shelter ourselves from the evil heat of the sun and the freezing rain. You guys were awesome!!!

WE Model United Nations 2012 : Beijing, China

Hello! It's quite a while since I last updated my blog cum photo blog or whatever terms that suit. :)

I just came back from the capital of PR China, Beijing  with a few of my college mates. We attended the WE Model United Nations 2012 conference in Grand Epoch City, Beijing. It lasted for four days and I was in the Harvard MUN(HMUN) : European Union (EU) committee, chaired by Mr. Erfan Soliman, a graduate from the Harvard University. I was the delegate of HUNGARY a country known for its beautiful capital city, Budapest (I assumed).

In my committee, we had two topics which were MONETARY POLICY and ENERGY POLICY. However, four days weren't enough for us to cover both. We only managed to pass a resolution concerning the 1st topic, which was very closely related to Economics, and I love it!!!!

Interest rates, bailouts, austerity measures and govt reforms were some of the ideas incorporated in our majestic resolution which passed with a resounding majority. From 5 working papers, to 4 draft resolutions, they converged into 1 comprehensive resolution which hopefully would be able to alleviate the debt crisis plaguing the Eurozone currently.

On the 3rd day, a crisis was introduced into our committee. Spain was accused of hiding the real amount of debt they are facing which is more than what was disclosed to the public. So, we had to give out directives in order to rectify this problem. But, before the directives were to be decided upon, there was a heated debate between the delegates as Spain was asking for the EU to request the European Central Bank (ECB) to give out 100billion Euros of interest-free loan to keep Spain afloat and retain the world's confidence in Spain's economy. It was very interesting indeed.

And lastly, before I wrap up this post with some pictures from Beijing, I would like to share my admiration to  the director of my committee, Mr. Erfan Soliman. He just graduated from Harvard University, majoring in Electrical Engineering and minoring in Economics. It doesn't stop there as he's gonna continue his graduate school at Oxford University in the same course. OMG!!! :)

So, that's all. Thank you for dropping by at my humble bloggie.

Excess + Love = ?

Once in a while, writing something out for me is a relieve. So, in this short post, with deep humility I wish to share a bit of what is going on in my thought for the past day.

Excess. That's the word. I believe that the excess of anything is always threatening. People might argue, but I'll stay put with that. As a rational human, we should be able to draw a line for everything in this world. And please do not practice selective execution (i.e. if the situation is favourable to you, you are okay with it, although you know it's 'illegal').

Looking back at the "excessive" issue, in this post I would like to share it in the context of "being in love". My style is simple and straight to the point. If you love someone, and another person hurts his/her feelings for the good cause, what will be your response? Consult your loved one and talk to him/her properly, trying to mend what is wrong, OR you'll go to the person who hurt his/her feelings and 'lecture' that person? The choice is yours. For someone who is over-protective, the 2nd option is highly likely to be the choice. Is that the best choice in this case? I don't think so. Sometimes, we are too ignorant of ourselves. We are trying hard to please other people and the society up to the point that we don't give ourselves the chance to be who we are, to think back where do we come from. And this situation might lead to us not knowing exactly where is our boundary in life.

Talking from experience, too much love is never good, except for love to the No Ending and His sweetheart.
Don't get blinded by love as it would be detrimental not only to you but to those surrounding you. At times, take a look at the bigger picture of life and avoid being too focused to the one you love. :)
A reminder for me and those who love to be reminded.

Assalamu'alaikum.
